WAAAAAHHH, Ms Lai publicly thanked the photography club over PA system today nei!!! the gist of what she said is "thank a group of people who have been capturing the shots. that's the MJC photography club. if you had the chance to check out their exhibition, you will realise that we have many creative photographers."

Lai lai lai... take part take part...
In conjunction with Health in the Heartlands, an event by the National
Cancer Centre (NCC), the NCC Foundation, will be having an inter-JC
photography competition.
This photography competition, Light of Life, will span across the months of March till May and they hope that we will be able to support them and their worthy cause.
Through this, they hope that students will be able to reach into their inner
self and draw on their creativity to come up with inspirational works of
photographic art to help create awareness for cancer research.
A few areas that you can look forward to:
1) Creating awareness amongst students
- whether about the importance of having hope during
difficulties or about the Number One killer in Sg, Cancer
2) Encouraging students to tap and stimulate their creative juices
to produce inspirational works of art
3) Prizes and trophies made out to both the individual winners and
their schools

Lately i have been feeling that my $35 olympus tripod is SCMI (super CMI) -.- especially when i mount the 5D on it... wa, sian hua cha zai niu fen shang...
i look here look there... my fav is still... haiz... that one lor... so i went n searched one of my old posts... my dream tripod. light, leg can open big big, neck can stretch long long, stylo milo, nice bag... all you ever wanted in a tripod... is in this:

I have parked this item next to the BMW Z4 and condo at cairnhill on the list of my favourite unattainable things that i don't need anyway.... cos if i stay there n drive that car... i'd have the spare cash for that tripod...
*squat in corner with one lone dark cloud raining above me then grow mushrooms*

Today i learnt how to do the draw-with-torch-light-in-the-dark (don't laugh can? i forgot what it's called) thing... v fun ^^ experimented with coloured cellophane paper n they drew a flower with red petals n green stalk, v nice. i v like ^^ ey, someone post the nicer ones we did today nei. the I <3 U n flower ones r nice ^^
haha... roy is quite a chocoholic like me. he opened the fridge, helped himself to the time-out bars inside n we both stood outside the club room munching munching... sally saw us, asked "er... why u all standing here?" cos can't eat INSIDE ma, so we eat OUTSIDE lor! LOL... then cherish also took one n wanted to join us there to eat but PPC usurped hers, "cherish, u go take another one!" -.- cherish did take another one n he tried to trick her to look away so he could hijack hers -.- how many did u eat ha?
we mounted the COLOURS photos ^^ i like spraying the glue, so fun ^^ pishhhh...... hm... i think the nicest is XQ's hybrid... quent says now can call her Qing Tian Pi Li already... kekeke... oh... roy came in, saw my "radiating lines" pic... n asked, "who took that?" i said me n he replied, "luckily i never say nice!! =DDD" -.-
oh ya, i found out today that quent used to play er hu nei!!!!! n *drum roll, cymbal clash* benji used to play GU ZHENG!!!! stunned right??? yup, that was my reaction too! haha...

Golly... today during assembly i was so super distracted... cos the sky was KIREI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but -.- i didn't bring my cam... i was standing at the study benches cos no J1s today then during announcement i walked out to admire... went back to study benches there... cannot tahan... heart itchy itchy... sit down shake leg... announcement quickly finish nei!

me: don't know whether it will continue like that until afternoon... can go back take...
CC: -.- *gimme "r u mad?" look* take from your photography club la!
me: i want fisheye lens
CC: -.- don't tell me wat lens... i donno...
so after assembly i cheonged up,

so sayang...

This Fri i need to shoot staff retreat with our PPC and the Yu Shu Ling Feng, Qing Tian Pi Li, Grandmaster of Photography who owns 3 double-deck dry cabinets Mr T...
hm... i think i suck at shooting events and i was quite stressed that i had a nightmare last night that all my pics this Fri turned out bad =(

and this thu continue to shoot COMPASS elective. gotta retake Mr Neo's (sheesh, of all classes) cos either his eyes looked closed or his mouth looked funny (like i happened to shoot when he was pronouncing "U") so cannot... quent, u better bring camera stand by. in case i cmi again, u whip it out n paparazzi him.
I may have to paparazzi PPC too if got time cos he kept covering his face la! Cooperate hor! *geen*

i discovered that to get to the next f stop, u multiply by (make a guess?) yes! root 2! haha ^^
so the f numbers are 1, 1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, ...
it's a geometric progression with a common ratio of root 2.
why is that so nei?
borrowing from wiki, "In optics, the f-number (sometimes called focal ratio, f-ratio, or relative aperture[1]) of an optical system expresses the diameter of the entrance pupil in terms of the effective focal length of the lens; in simpler terms, the f-number is the focal length divided by the aperture diameter. It is a dimensionless number that is a quantitative measure of lens speed, an important concept in photography"
well, with each stop, the aperture area is HALVED... (see diagram, courtesy of wiki)
Let T(n) and D(n) be respectively the area and diameter of the nth circle. Let the radius of the nth circle be r.
Then,
T(n) = pi(r)^2, D(n) = 2r
T(n + 1) = (1/2)pi(r)^2 = pi[(1/root2)r]^2, D(n + 1) = 2(1/root2)r = root2(r)
so, D(n + 1)/D(n) = 1/root2
which means the diameters form a geometric progression with common ratio 1/root2 i.e. to get to the next diameter, u DIVIDE by root2.
but f/# and diameter have an inverse relationship so that's why, to get to the next f number you MULTIPLY by root 2!

LOL! you know what Mr T, THE Grandmaster of Photography, who owns THREE double-deck dry boxes, calls PNS cameras????

LOL... so cute *catch my breath*
Yesterday I had to help Mr T shoot COMPASS electives and I learnt quite a bit from him about composition when shooting such events... he is v v enthu when it comes to photography ^^ think next time i will tag along him or roy ^^
I also realised my kit lens is super CMI!!! Mr T took a shot of me with my 400D w kit then w his olympus n expensive lens... WA! the difference is apparent, in terms of colour n sharpness... sheesh... u pay peanuts, u get monkeys.
ermm... i felt quite stressed shooting Mr Neo cos guess who were there??? half the exco!!! -.- golly... n quent was like, "here got camera nei! want?"
and our PPC hor... he is SOOOOO shy! kept covering his face w notes... then he told participants, "that's a DSLR in action. and we photographers prefer to be BEHIND the camera"... i happily shoot shoot shoot and he screamed, "enough la!" so i scurried off. ha ha...

HALF of the exco was happily taking studio shots in the photog room (whose door is half blocked by the vending machine) today.
=)
Subjects included:
gummy candies (which we all ate some), glitter hairbands, star thingys.
quent decided to take the promo shot of 'COLOURS' forming the words with his gummy sweets.
while I am disgusted at one corner,
GERM and QUENT are busy pinching those gummy sweets so that they can look like the relevant alphabets.
*after finishing taking the shot*
quent: "eh... eat the sweets ar..."
germ: "eat lor..."
en: "NO I'M NOT GOING TO EAT IT!"
quent: "ok, I eat the R"
*puts gummy into mouth*
*after sometime*
germ: "eh! he putting back those candies into the box!"
en: "EH! DON'T! oh gross... I'm not going to eat any of those I tell you..."
quent: (ignore) (went on taking photos)
quent: "Oh btw, all the gummy candies, I used it to take photos at home..."

AAAHH HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
Today one boy in my class wore the Azimuth Tee wrong way round... other people's Azimuth w mountain print is behind, his is in front... someone was like, "ey, why your Tee so special??" when he relised it during morning assembly, he felt so consious n malu! then other people also realised n the radius spread spread... people were looking at him n giggling... i said,
"wa, don't u feel honoured... so many girls look at u nei!"
