Final Day Of Present Year
31st December, 2008.
Mankind holds its breath once again,
For the time of doom is near.
The day shall loom of stark devastation,
While the night shall loathe of fear and depression.
The end of the year is here.
The hour hand trudges on towards the time of reckoning;
Towards the hour of four zeroes,
The first break of new year;
Towards the modicum songs and auld lang synes;
Towards the veneer of a black sky on fire,
A band of soldiers march wearily forth,
A traveling troupe of fortitude and vigor
Burdened by environment,
Fatigue and
Weight.
From the artists' dizzying hubris,
Pictures appear.
With laudable purpose and noble goal
These downtrodden set out to capture,
The final images
Of the final hours,
Of the final day
Of the present year.
