The Damn Long Outing, 12 July - 13 July

People! The Damn Long Outing is here! Organized by the Alumni, this is an outing you cannot miss! The Damn Long Outing includes a 15km route spanning a total of two days, visiting familiar spots like Fort Canning Park, Chinatown, Little India and Boat Quay. This photography trail will test our skills in photography, and teach you new things you never knew about before!

Split into two days, the 12th July will take us on a journey through cultural Singapore. We shall start off at Chinatown first, heading northwards through the streets, finally culminating at Boat Quay in the night. Get to see fireworks from the NDP Parade Rehearsal, and bask in the glow of the nightlife in Singapore!

On the 13th July, we will meet in the unearthly hours of morning, before heading off to the historical Fort Canning Park to catch the ripe golden light. Our journey will take us through the Registry of Marriages, where we can witness the joy of couples tying the knot of life, followed by a tour of the recently renovated National Museum. Finally, we will be traveling to Little India via Bugis Street for a brilliant opportunity for street photography!

You can come on either of the two days or both! Are you up to the challenge? Can you survive the Damn Long Outing?

Hello all,These are all the alumni logos that we've created and we have made some permutations to the design. So please, vote and tell us which logo design you prefer. Thanks. You have to choose one even though you dont like any of them but i doubt so haha.

note (no. 1 looks like Apro Security Singapore logo... no. 6 looks like an alphapet from cybertron planet - transformers)

Ms Koh and I were discussing about our dream clubroom... Apparently we're about on the same page!

We should have an art museum in MJC hor?
Since school take our clubroom cum exhibition room... We should upgrade our clubroom!

Three levels,
open concept,
glass walls,
glass doors,
zig-zag staircase with mahogany flooring,
high gloss white flooring,
hanging displays for putting exhibition prints,
bright red high gloss bench in the middle for contemplating life,
fully air conditioned.

First level is our clubroom where we do our normal stuff (chey who want to climb so high although got good view maybe should have elevator hor?), glass walls and glass door. At the door, we have a liquid crystal display of our club logo, then according to ms koh, we can shine our club logo into the air like batman logo at night! Woot! Will have gel palm sensor so unauthorized people cannot come in, and we can throw away the irritating tasky key away.

We'll have 8 high performance Mac Pros (coupled with double quad core and 30" cinematic display each) lined on one long white high gloss desk with those stylish swivel chairs, with all our pro looking printers lined in between. Our dry cabi will be white and slim in depth, ceiling floor length, if cannot automate take out the lens (seen the 4-storey wine cabi in Singapore before?) then we can also have a metal ladder at the side like some Beauty and the Beast library style so we can display all our lenses out. Got one section is display all our filters, one section display all the bodies, one section display all the flashes, and one broad section below for tripods. Strictly black and titanium Gitzos only. NO GREEN TRIPODS BY THE DECREE OF MS KOH.

Throw away all our ugly cupboards, mops, and whatever rubbish... For storage of unglam miscellaneous things (like our tub of 40c popular pens, maybe we should upgrade to using mont blanc) we can have a big white cupboard with individual pigeon holes for different items. Maybe on one of the walls on top of the workstation can install a long white shelve which we can display framed photos of club members (like family setting) to give our sleek clubroom a homely feel. Because the wall is high gloss white with high gloss white shelve, the photos will almost seem like they are floating in the air by themselves. Then we'll also have a black leather couch, to which sweaty boys are strictly prohibited on.

Second and third stories will be for our exhibitions, plenty of space, good view of MJC, brightly lit with spotlights and halogen lights, fully air conditioned, mahogany staircase... Look pro enough hor?

But all glass means u all cannot orh pi sai in the clubroom hor! People walk past will see one hor!

Let me explain this poll.
We are deciding where to put our Singapore exhibition, and consensus is against outside photocopy shop. So please don't even think about it.

1. Outside GO- good light, but no weatherproofing. Near to Ms Lai's car. Everyone will see it anyway.

2. Inside canteen- Can have one small section cleared for us. However, low light but good weatherproofing.

3. On spiral staircase- For every few steps, we will put a stand with our photos on top. Most teachers and students will not miss it. Good light, and good weatherproof if we place them behind the walls. Very fresh idea. I LIKE!

4. Atrium- I don't like it there, leh.

Photography Alumni Recces Route To Upcoming Outing

As part of the alumni plans, a few alumni members began a 5km march to conduct reconnaissance of the route to a yet-unannounced outing. At 0830hrs yesterday, Alumni Photographers Xing Quan, Chee Howe and Jun Sen assembled at Dhoby Ghaut MRT to begin an exhaustive hike across historical Singapore, to cater for better planning and organization of an outing that is believed to be held after the mid-year examinations.

Quoting Alumni Photographer Xing Quan, "Just came back from a recce session... An exciting outing is coming up!" This event, planned solely by the Alumni during the hectic period of the mid-year exams, would serve as a refresher course for Club members after studying so hard for the mid-years. In addition, it allows for more opportunities for everyone to get outside and shoot for the August Exhibition.

As the photographers concluded an early discussion about the outing on the actual day, they proceeded to Fort Canning Park with maps, compasses and cameras on hand, identifying all potential opportunities for good photos as well as rest points along the way.

Besides Fort Canning Park, they visited the Registry of Marriages, the National Museum of Singapore, Central Fire Station and many more, proceeding down the memory lane of colonial Singapore. It is not confirmed which of these places will be included in the actual outing itself.

According to Chee Howe, many issues were brought up during the recce, and some of them were even resolved. The rest of the photographers agree, saying that this was a very useful outing, and have benefited from it. For example, photographer Chee Howe learnt much about flash technologies and lens filters from the hike.

"Response from the Alumni and Club about this outing has been generally positive thus far. We'll be looking into ways to try combat the fatigue and the critical element of contingencies for the actual day. We look forward to the outing, and we hope to announce the details soon!", says a spokesman from the Alumni.

It was a sunny day and the weather had been merciless on the photographers, but spirits remain high as another outing approaches, except this time it is going to be longer, more focused and enjoyable.

The outing will happen on the 12-13th July, but is still currently under the development stages. Stay tuned for more announcements about this.

I received a call from Mr Gan Beng Soon (Chinese Department). They are publishing a book which is a compilation of selected students' essays entitled "Yu3 Sheng1 Ming4 Dui4 Hua4 (Conversation with life, i think)". He thinks our Montage entries will be suitable as pictures for the book. It's a non-profit book so we won't get money but they will acknowledge our club name (and students' names if we request) and that these are entries which won the school challenge.

So are you all interested? Roy, are you ok with this? I think it's great exposure and recognition for our kids ^^
Pls sms your decision by tomorrow so i can reply him. If it's yes, can select 6 good photos with student's name and title, maybe watermark it with our logo? burn into CD and pass to Mr Gan by Mon?

Wa, I just touched down from Narita Tokyo and my post is the 100th!! ^^

I bought a 5D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .... for Mr Wong's uncle la -_______- helped him buy, test and lug back -________-||| It's quite cheap about $3K+ for body. I got a 50mm f/1.8 too! ^^ (from Singapore before flying off) here's a photo taken with the lens which i like (Eunice also says it's nice):


i did however buy a 15mm f/2.8 there... bombarded Eunice with loads of smses to ask her to check prices for me and settled on buying that. i smsed PPC too but think cos i didn't email him one week in advance and sms him 3 days before, he didn't reply *grumble grumble* quite a good deal nei. i signed up for the membership card which earns 8% cash rebate (stored on the card) that can be used for the next purchase... so got about SGD$300 from the 5D which i used to off-set the 15mm and still earn another about SGD$80 which i used to get a pair of headphones for free... now still got about SGD$60 not used... valid for two years... not bad... better than duty-free... haha

i was also considering the 70-200mm f/2.8L with IS which costs about $1.8k but... but... but... got no money... was in a state of dilemma... between shopping in Ginza and lens... I... *look and feel ashamed, avoid eye contact* I.... I.... chose... Ginza!

hm... i see many people using Nikon there... and oh, i brought back some Nikon brochures for the Nikonians ^^ (er... that was what i told Mr Wong but it's cos Takuya Kimura is on the cover =P)

i bought chocolate mochi for u guys ^^ (is muah chee halal? i'm not sure nei... if not got other snacks also ^^)

finally, i REALLY SALUTE all of you who use FILM *21 flash shot + bow* cos i think i clicked like 1000 times in Japan... imagine if i had used film... die... how much will that cost? LOL

5. depending on response, the number of entries exhibited will be capped at 30 entries.
6. printing of approved entries and posters will start after vetting has been completed.
7. printing and mounting will be stretched between 19 july to 1 august.
8. publicity will be done between 21 july till exhibition ends.
9. setting up of the exhibition will be done on the 2nd, after College day ends.
10. those who will be able to stay back and help, please let junsen/ chee howe know.

Meridian Junior College Photographers Visits Zoo

Just a mere week after the gathering at Mr Cheng's house, Meridian Junior College student photographers were once again on the field covering another assignment. This time, the Singapore Red Cross has requested for the help of four photographers from the MJC Photography Club to cover the World Blood Donor Day on the 14th of June, 2008.

A team of five photographers from the Club was assembled for this event, comprising of Victoria, Mumtaz, Humairah, Aida and Chin Chye. In addition, the force was augmented by three Alumni members, Kingston, Chee Howe and Jun Sen, who were present to provide support for the above operation.

The event commenced at 8:30am, and as the Singapore Red Cross busied themselves with the preparations, the photographers proceeded to recce the ground. With a carnival to cover and a shoot-and-print booth to man, there was much to do for this day. Photographer Jun Sen had this to say, "Wah lao sure damn sian one! I think I'll go take pictures of the animals instead."

The photo booth was placed at the entrance of the zoo, with printing services provided by Hewlett Packard. Visitors to the Zoo could have their pictures taken with the Red Cross Mascot, Blood Buddy, and have them printed free-of-charge. Photographer Chin Chye said this, "Blood Buddy? No, its pronounced Bloody!"

After a quick briefing and crash course, the event started proper and the Meridian JC photographers carried on with their various taskings. Eventually, the photographers found themselves taking pictures of Pygmy Hippos rather than guest-of-honours.

"Aiyer! So cute!", said Photographer Victoria, referring to the African elephants in one of the displays.

The photographers visited the gibbons, white tigers, kangaroos and more. The crowd turnout was spectacular. There were the regular tourists, invited guests of the World Donor Day celebrations as well as volunteers for the event. Scientists gave a rough estimate that at one point of time there were 13 million people in the zoo.

The carnival ended at 6pm. Some of the photographers got lost and some who wore slippers stepped on what scientists believe was mud. Eventually, everything came to a close and went home happy.

The cost for the lanyard as follows :

The above is using silkscreen plastic ink which is very durable. The lanyard is 2cm in width and comes with a clip.

If you need cheaper, we can use a thinner width lanyard or sublimation printing onto a white polyester lanyard. Or you may use one colour printing instead of 2 to bring the cost down.

So what do you guys say? I'm not very good at bargaining, and I do hate to compromise compromise quality with price. 'Sides, buying a lanyard at MiniToons is $5.90 last I checked (!! I was all *shockshockhorrorhorror* while I was shopping for one last year :()

Let's applaud to welcome the new Vice President of the Alumni oldbird Ng Jun Sen!

From now on, he'll be in charge of all foreign affairs and I'll be in charge of domestic affairs. The communication workflow will still remain the same, just that he'll be sharing the duties of liasing with other clubs.

Alumni Logo and Name

Alright since now we have an un-official alumni society formed, we need a logo as well as the name.

Name
The current code-name for this is Official Alumni Club (OAC) which kingston says "bit long winded... dun want ppl to think we are very old school photog club" which i also agree.
So.. i need ur opinons and ideas on the name we are giving our "OAC" 

Some rough guidelines:
1. Short and catchy would be good
2. Must it have MJC Photography name?
3. Should it be made to an acronym? (Alumni Society of MJC Photog club: ASMPC)

Logo
The logo is currently being conceptualized and i also need opinons and ideas on the logo design.

1. Should it incorporate the Photography > MJC look?
2. Colours? (Currently using club colours: red, grey, black)
3. What do you want the logo to look like?
4. The meaning of the overall look
5. Gradient in logo?

These are some of the ROUGH concepts i made. Please do feedback on the improvements that can be made (like the shape, pattern and colours)


I do hope that we do not rush into deciding the logo and name, cause jun sen would be making biz cards (?) and we might hold competitions in the future! so brand identity counts!

I need to print some photos!

Yeah just wondering about the current plan for Alumni members to go back and make prints. The previous discussion, Quentin informed me that we must provide our own papers and inks, but how about making a pay-per-print system? 'Cause it's a little difficult to keep track of what type of paper and ink to buy since we have so many printers in the club now (a good thing!).

I don't know how much are A4 or A3 printing costs nowadays, but I believe its just simple maths to calculate out the exact cost per print.

Anyways, the reason for this topic is because my OC requested me to print some A3-sized photos for a gallery project of his, so I'm looking for a place to print these photos and I thought of the club straightaway.

An Inaugural

Hello everyone!

Since I haven't properly introduced myself to this blog, here it is! (I know, v. v. v. belated... ^_^")

Hi blog and blog readers, I'm Victoria, better known to all as Vicky, and am a proud member of the Photography Club at MJC. I don't have a blog I update regularly, so yes(!) I'll try to post more here. ;D

Photography-wise, confession: I'm really no good. :O

However, I will GAMBATTE and try to improve as much as possible!!! This would probably entail me asking a lot of annoying amateurish (not to mention embarrassing) questions during outings (hahaha sorry in advance to EllieVanessaAngeShirleyMummy&ZackHedge) (need to come up with a nickname for Vanessa ;)).

I really am looking forward to muchmuch alumni collaborations, and am a strong believer that working with people better than oneself would facilitate improvement muchos muchos. I think Eunice is doing a great job in establishing and linking the alumni to photog!!

Anyhoo, being an exco member + relatively low self esteem = GREAT BIG FEAR OF BEING DISAPPOINTING.

Therefore: onegaishimasu!!! qing duo duo zi jia! [roughly = please!!! understand and guide along].

Oh right, before I forget, here's the group photo taken by Mr. Cheng during the farewell party last Saturday:

I personally had a great time at the party! There was pizza (10 to be exact), sushi (Woo~!), Too-Thick-Mushroom-Campbell-Soup, fruit salad painstakingly prepared by hardworking Shirleen, Angeline and Zheng Hui (thanks for doing the dishes!!! :P), and Butterscotch Blondies (essentially brownies, but blonde because it's white chocolate) AND the alumni brought pastries!!

(FYI I am perpetually dark chocolate deficient and white chocolate I don't really like but nevermind you didn't need to know that hahaha okay I'll blanko this bit out just for laughs...)

Mr Cheng's doggie was really cute (reminded me of a sheep-in-heat) and Mrs Cheng's really pretty! Ms Koh came too-

-hahaha so funny I was trigger-happying with Junsen's camera, and tried to take a candid shot of Ms Koh when she noticed me! Then she was all camera shy don't-take-my-photo-leh while adjusting her hair and giving the camera a victory sign, v.v. funny! Hahaha... Ms Koh looked very pretty in the photo, can someone post it here? *nudgenudge*

-and the alumni had a meeting regarding officialising MJC alumni and other administrative stuff. Felt all warm and toasty knowing that we have such wonderful old birds eager to further MJC Photog(!).

Okay, sorry for being abrupt but have to rush off to do chinese essay and PW interview now so I'll continue another day okok? Paisehpaiseh...

Hi all, in view of the arrival of National Day and the birth of our coolest Alumni, there will be a photo exhibition by Alumni members in the proposed date between 4th August to 8th August 2008.

All J2, J3 and J4 photog members are encouraged to join. The exhibition is themed on Singapore scenery, sights and/or National Day related photographs. There will be no limit to the number of entries you submit but please make sure they are of quality.

The deadline to submit your photos is by the 18th July 2008. Please send them to macingrouch@gmail.com. All entries will go through a vetting process on the 19th July, Saturday. Those who would like to join in the exercise can come down to the club room on that day as well. Printing will also commence on the 19th itself. (vetting and printing dates to be confirmed)

So far we have discussed about the following issues at PPC's place on 080608.

1. Responsibilities of the alumni
a. Activities
- Competitions
-> to be put on hold until alumni becomes stable and profitable.
- Outings
-> hopefully major events or festivals that come up. monthly is preferable.
-> doesn't matter if only three or thirty people turn up, as too many people is not preferred for some outings.
-> i will draft a template on the outings board for people to initiate outings.
-> pegged to the club's own organized ones too, whatever the club plans, alumni tries to turn up.
-> in due time, equipment for those w/o cameras can be provided, but need $$ first.
- Classrooms
-> held by seniors for juniors
-> everytime a free wednesday comes up for any alumni seniors, please contact grouch who will contact elliot or vicky about a slot opening.
-> club exco can also request for classrooms during weekends or public holidays, but no guarantee on free slots.
-> the best way for the newbies to learn new stuff.
-> as requested by PPC, there will be a time when classrooms will stop, and club exco must take over the responsibility of teaching what they know.
- Exhibitions
-> try to use minimal funds
-> some old birds can come up with a theme, we can organize an outing around the theme, whatever images that are exhibition material can be consolidated
-> printing, cutting mat boards, presentation etc. will be handled by club's gallery IC
-> can be used to earn money
-> latest theme proposed: NATIONAL DAY
- Open House
-> alumni will come back during open house to let people know that MJ photog very on one
-> show off a bit
b. Alumni and Club Relationship
- Role of Alumni
-> to support all club activities
-> contribute through experience
-> add to the club's active strength during outings
-> organize events during the club's downtime eg. exams, J2 to J1 transition
- Restrictions on Alumni
-> club cannot be dependent on alumni for daily running of the club
-> alumni does not do coverage of school events, exception of Orientation, Prom, Soiree and any really special events

2. Membership Issues
a. Entrance
- all exco members who have handed over to the next exco will be automatically included in the alumni
- non-exco have an option to choose whether they want to be in the alumni or not
- external members from other jc are invited, but we have to work out membership benefits first (on hold)
b. The Boot
- members who are non-active for a very long time and prefer to leave can choose to do so
c. Gaining Numbers
- constant outings, members can invite friends along
- quentin to contact his bunch of photog friends and ask them along
- publicizing using exhibitions that feature alumni photos
- granted official status from ms lai (to be worked on)
- card invites to ex-club members who have not joined yet
- membership benefits (on hold, no $$)

3. Method of Contact
a. Blog
- the primary source of announcements and news
- the first channel for alumni info also
- quentin is the permanent webmaster
b. Phone Contact
- will prepare a contact list. alex to send no1 exco's contact information to grouch
- if any important announcement or outing comes up, we will use sms to spam everyone
- grouch is the global point of contact. other point of contact for administrative issues are all the ex-chairmen or ex-vice-chairmen
c. Forum
- please register and post more!
- people new to photography, don't remain blur! ask questions in the club 'basic training' forum for a serious reply
- new admins and moderators will be appointed soon
- open to suggestions, if you have feedback, there is a 'technical support' forum for you!
d. DeviantArt
- Melissa shall set up an account for all MJC dA users
- we'll try it out first and see whether it works

4. Funding
-> all funding issues to be put on hold. we'll see if the alumni stabilizes in abt 1-2 years first

Thank you all for supporting the outing today! I'm very happy. In fact, I'm in a state of euphoria. *high on jolly shandy* (nah, I'm not that lousy a drinker LAH.)

As usual, no photos for another two weeks because I have reverted back to my FM2 whilst my D40 is in safe hands of a friend.

However, a brief recount of what happened today for those who could not make it for the outing~

We trooped into OCH, a strength of twenty people storming into the main entrance of the sorry excuse of a hospital. What seemed to be scary and creepy last September no long looked scary and creepy anymore. After all, the place ought to be scared of us. ROAR! We'll shoot the place to death. Which I think the kiddies did. (I only finished a miserable roll of Velvia 100.)

I managed one group shot at OCH with about 15 people in it... Say the truth, I did a double exposure in the last shot to create a ghost effect. I hope that will turn out nicely like i wanted it to be. The old birds got together in the watch house thingy at the top of the ambulance bay and did a nice group shot. "Old bird exclusive shot", according to Xing Quan.

King and I managed to get onto the flooded roof top, and the view up there was superb. In terms of military watch out point. In any case, OCH was a military base before it was converted to become a hospital because of it's strategic location on top of a hill overseeing the whole of Changi Beach. Can see all the big big small small ships and boats. The way up was kinda difficult too, because it was the kind of roof top access metal ladder through a skinny column and when I reach the top, gravity was pulling back at me more than usual. Both of us having to balance our weight with a cam and bag slung behind, the ladder stopped shot at our waist when we got all the way up the ladder. We had to grab some flimsy piece of wood and the floor of the rooftop to get on. It was still flooded as ever, but we hecked and got on anyway. We got our shoes wet. Urgh. I swear if I ever slip off that darned ladder, I'd definitely die. Oh well. If I break the 15-30mm lens don't mind can cremate with me, and remember to give me a 12 flash gun salute hor. =P

After we left OCH, we went down the hill onto Hendon Road and there was this high wall of about 2 metres high and I had this idea to fit everyone in for a "normal" group shot. In the end, five of us ended up scaling that wall to pose for the group shot, with the occasional passing gaping pedestrians. And not to forget, wide eyed uncle pointing at us from inside the bus as it passed. Of course, we waved like heroes of Iwo Jima. Jun Sen managed to get up SOC style- which is- running, jumping, planting both fists onto wall and PULL. He got a cut on his arm, but our armor infantry boy will do just fine. Vicky's was a little more interesting. She wanted Zheng Hui to give her a leg up, but in the end I grabbed her hips and shoved her as high I could manage, cheerleading style. Mine was... let's say... it got both Vicky and Xiuqi laughing.

I put both hands on the top of the wall, climbed up step by step like rock climbing, gave myself a pull, and ended with my stomach on the high wall. I was stuck. I was flailing my arms and legs, trying to "bounce" my way onto the wall. In the end, I screamed for help with my arms and legs still flailing in the air, and Vicky admitted she was hoping she had a cam in her hands at that time. Well... Vicky managed to grab one of my legs as I swung it towards her direction and I rolled onto the wall. Desperate times require desperate measures. I have no idea how Zheng Hui and Xing Quan managed to get onto the wall, but the five of us definitely didnt let the opportunity to cam whore go by. And neither did a few of them let the opportunity of taking our pics to go by. A nice jogger helped us take a few shots despite we were all ready to go with the cam set up on the tripod with the timer winded down. Unfortunately, Yun Su who tried as hard as she could didnt manage to make it up the wall.

The way down was definitely more exciting than the way up. Of course it involved jumping and ass-planting-into-grass-with-knees-that-just-simply-gave-way-to-gravitational-acceleration. After all the guys jumped, Vicky grabbed me in terror. I just jumped before I let her freak me out. Instead of landing in a half squat with the spring of my thighs and shins, my heavy ass planted into the grass first. Ooof. Boy, the grass was soft. Vicky came down next. She's a fine girl who's up for dares.

We left for Kelong Walk along Changi beach but the sky didnt do any good for us today. The sun set into the clouds, but I was content to have seens the kids and kiddies have fun chatting with each other. And there was an apparent inquiry about Zheng Hui's sexual orientation. HMmmmmmmm.... Hahahaha...

I was chatting with my dear junior Booby Hair about this coming Sunday outing, and an idea for our group shots have materialised in my head. Hope it's gonna be fun.

Since our Perth trip we've been trying to do these "HEROES" type of group shots (mainly scattered models doing different things in the frame looking very cool at the same time), but we were only about 70% successful because we were either bugged to death by the flies (RAWR!), tired to death from the scale of wave rock, or frozen to death in the crazy evening winds (ms koh was hiding behind me, the human windshield)... or the group was simply too big to have everybody in the frame nicely.

SO.

I was thinking of the original idea King actually had before the Perth trip- to have shots of groups of 5... Forming 4 groups for this coming outing. Then each group gets to choose where they want their shots to be taken, HEROES style.

A few spots came to mind yesterday: driveway up Old Commando School, back end of OCH, beach, changi village, jetty, front end of OCH or even in the wards of OCH itself...

I just realised Perth is a common place for Singaporeans to have their wedding photos taken while browsing through some of Singapore's wedding photographers' blogs such as JoHo, Yu Hsin and William Chua. And then I started browsing through some perth photos to see what are some of the shots ppl took at the places we went last year.

well, u identified the right step but your explanation isn't quite right.

the flaw lies in:

"When n = k + 1,
There are (k+1) horses. Remove 1 horse e.g. horse A. Then we have k horses. From assumption, the k horses have the same colour say olour 1. Replace horse B (of colour 1) in this remaining set with horse A so the number of horses is still k. From assumption, the k horses have the same colour 1. Now put back horse B and we have (k+1) horses of the same colour 1."

Now, he proof is based on ONE fundamental principle. Comparing Horse A and Horse B with the remaining k - 1 horses (let's call the set of k - 1 horses S).

So,
colour of horse B = colour of S = colour of horse A
=> they all have same colour.

Now, the proof falls apart if k - 1 = 0 i.e. when k = 2, because there is NO basis for comparison. so when k = 2, we have 2 horses, horse A and horse B. horse A is the same colour as itself, horse B is the same colour as itself and since S is empty set, there is NO COMMON colour => horses A and B may have different colours.

MAYDAY, MAYDAY!!!!

King and I walked from Raffles place to Chinatown to Outram park, then took train to City Hall and walked up Benjamin Shears bridge. One word- Tired.

First we had lunch had Hock Lam. WHA the one at China Sq is more ex than the one at Purvis lorr. After lunch we went to see the old old old old temple opposite Far East Square but it was so overwhelmed with joss smoke that I stood outside to wait. King said it says no photography inside. I had this idea to take a pic of the twirling joss sticks with the shadows, but too much urban clutter.

Then I said I wanna go Smith Street to take some shots, so we trudged there. After taking some shots (as you will see later), King pointed at the quaint looking apartments near Outram and went "HEY! CAN WE GO THERE?!?" so we went, and unwittingly went up Pearl's Hill and took a walk around the hill. We didnt take any photos up there, but it was a really nice walk. It's quiet and quite a nice hideout. Hahaha.

We then decided to go up Benjamin Sheares bridge. We walked to Suntec, then took a super long time to find the staircase up the Rochor exit. We had to walk through some construction site, trudge through loads of sticks and twigs and dead leaves, then up the staircase, and by the time we had to start our ascend, I was so tired and my shins were super tired and stretched and *WILLPOWER WILLPOWER WILLPOWER, GEAR ONE!!! GEAR ONE!! UPPITTEE UPPITTEE UP!!!* so by the time we reached the top for a good view of the Flyer, we slumped on the side of the pedestrian walkway to catch a breather. We stoned up there for quite long before coming down again. It was nice, soaking in the evening sun~

The journey undertaken by 6 "kids" in MJC Photography Club...

Before:
6 babies in May 2007... newbies... innocent

Stage 1:
First Exhibition: Glimpses of Singapore
- set up exhibition in front of printing shop
- then... diao... kena looked in college... gates locked... can't get out
- climbed school gate with teacher

Effects:
Highly emotional moment - v thrilling! LOL

Stage 2:
Perth trip
- travelled 4 hours to a desert to shoot sand n rocks

Effects:
Realised the importance of sunblock

Stage 3:
Prom Night Shoot
- crazy printing
- left hotel about 1:30am
- had supper at 3 am
- reached home at 5am
- got to report to college at 10am -.-

Effects:
Realised the importance of 24-hour eateries
Grew closer to Jin Bei

Stage 4:
Arrival of Newborns
- Orientation
- finally got someone to tekan

Effects:
Inspired to share their experiences

After:
May 2008... experienced seniors who can't wait to tekan juniors

yesterday after our photoshoot in T12 PPC giggled goofily (u all can picture this right?)

PPC: Eh Ann, wanna go see our new babies*?
me: babies? (i thought he meant lens baby... diao...)
PPC: the new exco!
me: Oh...? okok hee =D

*Note that we call Quentin they all "our kids" and Eliot n gang "our babies"? hahaha

So we walked to the club room but not before hijacking some leftover food from council investiture tea at garden =P

we opened the door and saw our "babies" perched in front of the monitors in one row... really like in a hospital nursery... LOL

PPC: where's Eliot??!!
everyone: er... he went outside..
PPC: i want to talk to you guys but Eliot is not here??? *act angry* how can? I never had to ask, "Where's Quentin?" cos Quentin is ALWAYS here!!

so well, we had the chit chat session and Eliot was handed a piece of paper by Quentin they all with a "list of things to do" and it was in bulleted form, single-line spacing and it overflowed to page 2... i could feel Eliot go -_______-||| LOL

some of the advice given to the babies..

Quentin: this is roughly the time u START meeting (it was about 4:30pm)
someone else: ya... n it will end 3 hours later
quentin: when u no longer see light at the bottom of the door... that's when u can go home

LOL

quentin: when u want to tell Mr Cheng something, email him ONE WEEK before, sms him 2 DAYS before then call him on the actual day to remind him... that's how it works
PPC: hey! that's how it works! but it WORKS!!! =D

George ELIOT (pseudonym of famous 19th century writer Marian Evans. Last time, way way before Mah Tah wore shorts, people didn't think highly of female writers so she used a male fake name 'pseudonym')
